Comments :    We were having trouble giving our Schnauzer an antibiotic capsule. Dr. Emmertt suggested opening the capsule and mixing medicine with baby food. First time I tried doing that with beef baby food, our Rusty ate it right up. Fabulous idea and now no stress about getting a pill down him. Thanks much.

Comments :    I have taken our Lhasa Apso Priscilla to PVA for six years. The doctors are excellent. The staff is extremely kind, professional, and most understanding. Any questions I had were always answered thoroughly which is greatly appreciated. Priscilla is now approaching her final phase of life. It is very comforting to know that the PVA staff will be with our family as we make final arrangements. These people are wonderful.

Comments :    Our family has used Prairie View for our dog, Sage, for ten years!!! We couldn't be more pleased. Dr. Emmert and Dr. Diemer are excellent professionals and both give you the personal attention and care for your animal as thought it was their own. Their staff are equally top notch. It is such a comfort to know our dog is under the best of care. Thank You!!!

Comments :    I'm very late in getting this in, but I wanted to let you know that this was my first time at your clinic. Not only were all of the technicians that I talked with very nice and friendly, but Dr. Diemer made me feel important in the process. He looked at me, without closing his eyes, which made me feel important in the process (this is important because I don't get this with my current vet)!. He was extremely gentle with my dog, taking the time to let Buddy smell him etc. When I left the office, I felt that I had left my dog in very good care. As a first timer, Thank you to all for making me feel welcome. I think you have a new patient!

Comments :    We have been taking our cats to Prairie View Animal Hospital for almost 4 years and in that time they have taken such wonderful care of our little ones! One of our cats became extremely ill and ended up needing care at a specialty hospital. However even though he was being treated at a different facility, the staff at Prairie View were continuously supportive. I would receive phone calls from the Veterinarians and the technicians offering their advice and words of encouragement. In addition the doctors were always very thorough during the exams and answered any questions that we had with such detail. Their knowledge seemed endless and we always felt very comfortable that our animals were being taken care of properly. Thanks Prairie View!!!

Comments :    WHAT A GREAT VETERINARY PRACTICE!Owning the dog from Hades has not been easy for the past 10 years, but the staff at PVA acted like it was an everyday occurrence for them when we showed up for treatment today. I visited PVA 24 hours in advance of our appointment to relate Hayden's overt crabbiness to the staff without him actually being there. (Kind of giving them the option to bail if they wanted to) After completing the necessary paperwork, I went over the precautions needed around Hayden, and went home to get ready for the appointment. Today, with much trepidation, we walked into PVA and was met by Sarah, who muzzled Mr. Grumpy up in a flash and sat us in an exam room. Dr. Diemer came in, undaunted by all the growling, baring of teeth and general bad behavior from Hayden, and proceeded to do the most thorough veterinary exam that Hayden has ever had while still awake. We discussed my concerns regarding Hayden's health and I left him in their capable hands to be sedated and have his teeth cleaned and to have his inoculations made current. When I returned, he was awake, still angry about being examined, but given a clean bill of health except for being found to be quite overweight and having arthritic joints and probable pain along his spine. Again, Dr. Diemer spent time answering the many questions I had, and telling me to "be strong" so we cold get this extra weight off a fairly sedentary 12 year old spaniel. I was also given samples of the new diet, and admonished that it was up to me to see that he sticks to the new regimen. The whole time, the staff never seemed hurried or unable to answer my questions, all the while still dealing with an angry dog. I am SO grateful for the doctor and staff at PVA today. I brought him in thinking I was going to lose him to cancer or something, and left knowing that we're a team to begin working on my pet's future health. Go visit them, it's a wonderful place!

Comments :    It was time to bring Kitty Punkin in for her vaccinations and a check-up. I was given an immediate appointment and was assisted in getting Kitty in to the office as I am quite mobility challenged. Dr. Diemer and his staff were kind, considerate of Kitty's terrified state, and treated her (and me) with the utmost respect. They checked her out, made me aware that Kitty was twice the woman she ought to be at 15 pounds, and suggested ways to trim this 8 year old girl down. I believe that I am happier than Kitty Punkin with this new regime, but I think she'll certainly be better for it in the long run. I would recommend this Veterinary office to anyone. These pets are my family now, and were treated as part of Prairie View's. I'm very happy.

Comments :    I recently moved to this area and am a senior citizen. I care deeply about my pets. My toy poodle is due for his annual and 3 yr. rabies shot, etc. I reluctantly cannot travel to his vet whose office is in Downers Grove. as the distance is too far for me to drive. One person I met since I moved to a rental in Kirkland said Prairie View is a really good veterinarian facility and he was happy with the vets treatment when their dog was alive. I have been reviewing local vet facilities online and am very impressed with Prairie View's website and the many positive testimonials.

Comments :    My family, and the state licensed dog breed rescue program that I administrate, have been clients of Prairie View Animal Hospital (previously Dr Paul's practice) since we moved to DeKalb in 1985. I would estimate that I have visited their offices with more than 100 dogs and cats during that time. Some visits were routine exams of an incoming foster dog. Some visits were emergencies requiring immediate care, including surgeries. I have always put my trust in Dr Emmert and Dr Diemer to make the best choices for my own pets as well as dogs in my rescue program. When I leave town, whether my dogs are boarded at Prairie View, or elsewhere, I feel the utmost confidence in stating that the vets and staff at this clinic can be called upon to make ANY decision concerning my pets' care. I put that in writing, and give a copy to the vet staff as well as anyone else caring for my pets in my home or their own home. I recommend Prairie View Animal Hospital to everyone I meet, especially people new to the community looking for a vet for their family pets. Veterinary care is expensive, it's true. But I know that the staff at this hospital is concerned for not only my pets' health, but also my pocketbook. I have never felt over-charged. And I have never felt that appropriate care was not provided to my pets. There have been times when my pet has passed away because no one, no vet, could make them well again. I know that they have received the best care, but sadly, it is time to say good-bye. Whether I take my pet to the Prairie View offices for euthanasia, whether one of the vets comes to my home to perform that last act of kindness, or, if my pet has died suddenly at home, which has happened, I never fail to receive compassionate service from the doctors and the staff. I am more than happy to speak with anyone about the quality care that Prairie View Animal Hospital provides. Kathy Hubbard. Gordon Highlander Rescue Program - Gordon Setter Club of America.

Comments :    Many thanks to Dr. Emmert and Technician Marissa for their wonderful care for my Taffy. I had already had one other pet registered with Prairie View and decided to register the others as well because my experiences with this care facility have been very positive. Thank you again and please keep up the great work.

Comments :    As usual, another positive trip to Prairie View. I can honestly say in the past 7 years every one has been great. Regardless of the circumstance for the visit, Dr. Emmert and Dr. Demer have always been wonderful. When you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile. The whole staff is great. I have recommended PVH to several friends and family members.

Comments :    Thanks so much to the Doctors and Staff at Prairieview Animal Hospital for taking such good care of my buddy Elliot. He had Dental surgery a week ago and is doing great. Even though his surgery turned out to be way more extensive than originally thought Dr. Deimer did not increase my treatment Plan fee. I have been going to Prairieview for years and will continue to do so.

Comments :    Thank you so much to Dr. Emmert and his staff. I brought my dog Anna in there this past week while she was really sick and could not ask for better people to take care of her. From the time I walked in the door with her they made us feel very welcome. A couple days after she was with Dr. Emmert she is back to her old self and I could not be happier. I would highly recommend them to anybody that needs care for their pets. They are very knowledgeable and take time to answer any questions you may have. Thank you again for everything you guys did.

Comments :    Thank-you Dr. Emmert for the wonderful care for our little Angel (4 yr. old . Shih-Tzu ) We were very thankful that you were able to flush out the bladder stones causing our poor pup to be so very lethargic and ill. We were so fortunate not to have Angel undergo surgery. Thank-you Dr. Diemer for seeing the need to get her on antibiotics and monitor her right away. Thank you also to the supporting staff.

Comments :    Both doctors and everyone on the staff at Prairie View have been NOTHING but friendly and compassionate towards my family and our animals. Our dogs are a part of our family and we have been shown the most quality of care as you would expect from people who feel the same towards animals.

Comments :    I recently had a series of laser treatments for my 8 y.o. corgi which has a history of herniated disc issues. While she did not like the treatments, they have made a HUGE difference in her comfort. As a result of these treatments, she no longer exhibits stiffness after resting/sleeping, she is energetic, and she is able to go on long walks and runs just like she used to prior to disc injury. I would highly recommend these treatments for any dog with arthritis or back issues. I am seeking the same therapy for me!

Comments :    I couldnt have asked for a better vet. When my Pom Gypsy was Bit in the shoulder at 14 weeks old (shattered her shoulder blade), the vet was very accomadating, even staying after hours to care for her. The Staff at PVA are absolutely fabulous! Most recognize either you or your pet as soon as you walk through the door! I will miss this vet! (moved back to SC Jan 2011)

Comments :    I take my dog BoBo to PVA and I have to say I could not be more satisfied. Whenever he is sick they are just a phone call away. If I'm in a hurry with my busy schedule they quickly get me what I need so that I can just go and pick it up. The prices are very reasonable and this staff truly cares. The doctors are amazing and the nurses are as nice as can be. The young lady with the short brown hair is so knowledgable and helpful!!!!!They go far and beyond to make sure that my dog is as healthy as he can be. While I was in the hospital A lady from Chicago told me she travels in whenever her animals need to be seen! The facility is very clean, and modern. I am so happy with this place! I'd recommend it to anyone!

Comments :    My family has been with Dr. Emmer since the time he started with Dr. Paul on Lincoln Hwy. Dr. Emmer and then Dr. Diemer have treated our geriatric society, all of them for their full lives, which includes a nearly 18 year old Aussie - still alive, a nearly 18 year old Maine Coone - still alive, two other 9 year old dogs Shepherd and Blue Heeler mix, and in the last year the two 20 year old cats we buried. This group of doctors, techs, and assistants has been like family to our "critters" and I can't think of anyone else I would trust with their care.

Comments :    Prarie View is a terrific clinic. While pet-sitting for a friend on vaction her dog passed away while I was at work. I was devastated. I am really grateful for the time and kindness of Dr. Emmert who explained sudden cardiac events in boxers which eased the pain for both my friend and I. Office staff helped me with final arrangements. This is a wonderful and understanding place to bring your pets.
